When your past comes back to haunt you

Are you having a hard time sleeping at night? Do you always find yourself having a difficult time to concentrate with your tasks or decide for your future? Are you worried and afraid because no matter what you do, your past keeps on haunting you?

Almost everyone of us is being haunted by our past in one way or another. Well, certain experiences such as graduation, birthday celebrations, or what we call "happy memories" are things that we're glad to remember again. Ever thought about that necklace your mother gave to you on your 10th birthday? Or that picture of you and your bestfriend together in your highschool days? Oh...how nice it is to bring back old and yet beautiful memories.

However, there are also these things that we wish to never come back in our memory again. These are the "traumatizing events" that happened to us away back. Probably, you've experienced being cheated by someone you cared so much, or you've witnessed how your parents separated when you're a kid. I know, those bad memories are things you just want to bury deep into the ground. But sometimes, no matter how hard you try, these painful events just come back and start to follow you around.

Being haunted by your past experiences is inevitable. No matter how good or bad the memory is, there will be a moment that you'll remember them again. When that happens, don't panic though. You may be afraid or worried because reliving those memories feels like bringing back the pain too, but let me tell you this: your past is past. It happened, and there's no way you can change it. Yes, there are things to be learned, but there's no reason for you to linger with the bad thing at all. Bad things happen because there are things in life that God wants to teach us. But what He wants is for us to realize those good things behind those happenings and not to hold on to those bad things.

You know what happens when you keep on thinking about it? You can never go on with your life. You can never focus on your future. You will be imprisoned by that dark memory of yours forever.

Maybe you're afraid because you think that it will happen again. But I tell you, it's just all in your mind. Remember your past is your past. There's no way it could hurt you again, unless, of course, you allow it to bite you once more.

There are other more important things in your life that you should think of. Don't let your past control you. It can be tough, yes, to fight with your memory, but if you really want to go on and have a good future, you'll take courage to let them go.
